Do you know what a CMS is?
CMS stands for Content Management System, and if was to recommend a CMS to people who have never even heard of the term before, WordPress would definitely win hands down. The reason is simple: WordPress does not require technical expertise to be used properly.
Why WordPress is Good for Newbies
If you have never built a website before, it is natural for you to be hesitant about diving headlong into the task. There is always the fear that the finished product may not turn out as it should be.
Of course, newbies like you are always expected to get the whole thing wrong the first time they ever work on a website, but thinking in these terms does not really help. A child riding a bicycle for the first time will always be afraid of falling off the bike even if such a thing is truly expected.
WordPress Training Wheels
WordPress provides the perfect set of training wheels for the newbie webmaster. Most of WordPress’ commands only require clicking and dragging. The newbie webmaster does not need to understand the HTML language when using WordPress, although of course a little knowledge helps. At this point, all the newbie webmaster needs to rely on is his or her instinct for what looks good as well as the imagination.
The best thing about WordPress is that however the newbie webmaster worked on it, the end result will always look neat. Such is the power and the beauty of WordPress as a CMS.
If you have a website that supplies Fantastico in its management system, like CPanel does, then you are ready to create your first WordPress based site. The basics are that easy.
If, like me, you prefer to have great training and support material, I heartily recommend Leanne King’s WordPress Bible, officially known as “WordPress For Internet Marketers”. Read more about Leanne’s book at WordPress Queen.
